Adjunct Oncology

A Cancer diagnosis is not a death sentence but a challenge of life that must be met head on with both Western and Eastern medicine. The initial diagnosis can weaken the spirit and damage life pathways. Patients can become apprehensive and feel a sense of defeat before embarking on the long journey through cancer therapy. Our adjunct oncology program is focused on healing the mind and spirit in addition to supporting the various body functions that can be damaged by chemotherapy and radiation therapy. We provide three essential adjunct services to patients who are currently being treated for Cancer.

  1. Acupuncture
Research has shown that acupuncture reduces nausea and vomiting after surgery and chemotherapy. It can also relieve pain and inflammation.. This therapy is intended to produce quick results that are often felt at the time of treatment and persist to some extent for hours or days thereafter.
  2. Massage Therapy
Studies of massage for cancer patients suggest massage can decrease stress, anxiety, depression, pain, and fatigue. Massage therapy is a useful, noninvasive addition to standard Western medical treatment. Therapeutic massage helps to reduce stress, anxiety, and pain in many of my cancer patients. Many patients find that massage therapy brings a feeling of well-being and relaxation unifying the body and spirit.
  3. Chinese Herbs and Medical Foods
Chinese herbs in addition to certain medical foods are an important adjunct to chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Treatment can alter the way your body metabolizes certain amino acids, nutrients and enzymes, which can affect your mood, energy, perception of pain and sleep. Targeted therapeutic nutrition is essential for keeping your nervous system balanced during this challenging time.
